Blake Tierney was born and raised in Central Arkansas. He has dedicated most of his life to public service. With over a decade of experience helping municipal governments, nonprofits, and community organizations create positive change for everyday people, Blake knows that Little Rock has a future worth betting on.

Whether you want the summa cum laude nerd to simplify our business licensing, the drag performer to call out bad actors, or the rugby player to tackle big problems like trash and homelessness, Blake brings a fresh perspective to prepare the city for its future.

Early Life

Blake grew up in Sherwood, adventuring into Little Rock when he joined his mom at work. Even at a young age, Blake was interested in community and service. Blake played baseball, helped his middle school start an Odyssey of the Mind team, and performed in theater at NLR High School.

Blake showed his leadership in school and the community. He joined the Boy Scouts, going on to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, and was Student Council president his senior year of high school. Blake went to Hendrix College where he competed in Student Congress, held an executive role with Student Senate, and started two student groups: one to raise awareness of mental health and one to activate men in addressing sexual assault.

Professional Career

After Hendrix, Blake joined AmeriCorps. He served at Our House for over a year with the out-of-school-time programs for youth, then became their VISTA Leader to help recruit and mentor over 100 AmeriCorps members.

In support of both community and his faith, Blake helped start Mercy Community Church of Little Rock, coordinated the Multi-Faith Youth Group of Arkansas, and directed the Young Adult Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church.

Blake continued his education in Milwaukee, WI and earned a Masters in Public Service at Marquette University, hoping to bring what he learned about public service, nonprofits, and collaboration back to Little Rock. He developed the Milwaukee Coalition for Children’s Mental Health, which led to a new clinic for kids on the autism spectrum. At the United Way for Greater Austin, he managed a federal grant for families with young children and helped groups make more data- and community-informed decisions.

Return to Little Rock

After returning home, Blake hit the ground running. Blake continued working with nonprofits and governments professionally and returned to his volunteer efforts for Little Rock families.

Blake helped start the Queer Collective and currently serves on the Age Friendly Little Rock Commission, on the board of Children’s Access to Clean Homes, and as a volunteer in children’s ministry at Christ Episcopal Church.

Blake enjoys rugby, anime, and board games. He lives in the MacArthur Park neighborhood and attends Christ Episcopal Church.

"I'm running to ensure every neighborhood has a voice, every neighbor has a home, and everyone thrives in Little Rock."

Blake's Platform

Revitalize Neighborhoods & Downtown

Revitalize Neighborhoods & Downtown

We all deserve to live in an environment that supports our physical and emotional well-being. But right now, Little Rock is dotted with hundreds of vacant and abandoned properties. Blight affects us all, exposing us to dangerous toxins, lowering the value of our homes, and sending a message that Little Rock cannot live up to its full potential.

Blake will tackle vacant and abandoned properties across Little Rock to attract new businesses, create affordable housing, and develop community spaces while protecting long-term residents. Blake's record of collaboration will bring local government and community groups together to ensure sustainable growth for our city.

Jumpstart Small Businesses

Jumpstart Small Businesses

By helping local entrepreneurs, we help neighborhoods thrive with new jobs, access to food, and vibrant arts and culture.

Without the leadership of our elected officials, Little Rock will lose our younger generations to out-of-state job opportunities.

Blake wants to unlock the talent in Little Rock and attract innovators by simplifying licensing processes and partnering with programs that support our budding business partners.

Make Every Street Safe

Make Every Street Safe

Whoever we are and wherever we live, we all want our families to be safe. Everyone has a right to safety.

Gun violence threatens too many neighborhoods in Little Rock. Renters often lack the ability to hold bad landlords accountable. And our city's aging infrastructure wears on our cars and makes the city less walkable and accessible.

Blake will step up code enforcement to ensure your housing is safe and address our aging streets, sidewalks, and drainage. He plans to relieve our overburdened police force by funding our lives with the community services we need.

Help People Get & Keep a Home

Help People Get & Keep a Home

Housing should be treated as an essential element of life. All residents of Little Rock - whether you own, rent, or are unhoused - deserve an accessible and adequate home.

Right now, Arkansas has the worst tenant protection laws in the country. Many of our neighbors in Little Rock are currently facing mold, bug infestations, and clogged plumbing. This is not acceptable.

Little Rock can and should lead the way for the rest of the state. Blake will prioritize policies that cover the full spectrum of housing: providing seniors with repairs and adaptations to their homes, reaching zero homelessness, ensuring renters' rights are protected, and helping first-time homebuyers achieve their dreams.
